Senior Copywriter

Creative Department

As a copywriter, you’re in the business of ideas. Above all, you must know your craft and love words. You should excel in writing long and short. You’ll be called upon to write compelling content in a variety of media – direct response pieces, multi-channel ad campaigns, websites, social posts, blogs, broadcast scripts, email campaigns – you get the picture. You’ll partner with a myriad of creative people, including art directors, creative directors, videographers and editors, along with strategists, SEO experts and client service to build strong conceptual work that gets results. Discipline and meeting deadlines are key. Multi-tasking is a must. But you’ll never have to go it alone. You’ll be an integral part of a creative team that brings out the best in each other and delivers insightful, unexpected messaging with a purpose. Sometimes you’ll have to sell your ideas to team members, client service and the client, so it’s important to be well spoken too. 

Responsibilities:

  • Proceed from creative briefing to finished copy, with guidance from the associate creative director, creative director or group creative director. 
  • Collaborate with an art director to create concepts that are innovative, effective and on strategy. (Effectiveness is measured in clients’ results.) 
  • Write solid, compelling headlines and body copy unerringly on strategy. This includes online display, websites, blogs, email campaigns, direct mail, scripts and ads. 
  • Review own work to ensure error-free copy documents that contain no grammar or spelling errors. 
  • Ideate with team members to develop marketing plans.  
  • Build relationships of trust with key partners throughout the agency and resolve creative differences swiftly and cooperatively. 
  • Preserve the brand integrity of each client. 
  • Complete work on time and on budget, meeting clients’ expectations and living up to ndm’s standards. 

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • 10+ years of advertising copywriting experience  
  • Senior living and/or health care experience preferred 
  • Must have a portfolio and writing samples that demonstrate creative and technical skills 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Communications, English Lit., Journalism, Marketing or another related field 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills  
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of writing: punctuation, spelling and structure  
  • Talent, judgment and imagination to create persuasive ideas and words  
  • Demonstrated problem-solver and quick study with the ability to research  
  • Team player with an eagerness to collaborate 
  • Detail and deadline oriented 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, experience in WordPress is a plus 
  • Know your way around a creative brief 

 

Skills and abilities:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (required)  
  • Microsoft Suite (required)  
  • Expertise in graphic design, layout, composition, and typography  
  • Color theory and color relationships  
  • Knowledge of print, including but not limited to processes, limitations, efficiencies, pre-flighting, pre-press production   
  • Mac operating system (required)  
  • PC knowledge a plus  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly
